Challenge

Friends of Oakland Parks & Recreation wanted to upgrade the Arroyo Viejo Recreation Center into Oakland’s magnet site for inclusive recreation programming. The site was to be enhanced for increased recreational opportunities for persons with disabilities. The project design and construction had to be completed in six months.

Solution

A fast-track delivery method was utilized to reduce cost and facilitate the City’s schedule. W.E. Lyons design-build team included members from the City of Oakland, City Manager’s ADA Programs Division, and Friends of Oakland Parks & Recreation to assure that all requirements were identified and met. W.E. Lyons partnered with GEZ Architect Engineers and Dillingham & Associates Landscape Architects on this project for their expertise in public playground facilities.
