Challenge

With an aging facility, inadequate storage space, a small site, poor product flow and increased demand, Buchanan Food Service was in need of a new facility.

Solution

After finding a suitable site, the owner retained Bonelli+Associates to design a state-of-the-art facility. At the architect's recommendation, W.E. Lyons Construction was hired early in the project to provide budgeting, value engineering and design-build services. The design-build team constructed an ultra modern 18,700 square foot facility from the ground-up. To improve product flow, a significantly larger new dock was designed with added doors and levelers. The number of pallet positions was increased 200% to 1390. The cooler and freezer were arranged to maximize flow and rack spacing.
