Challenge

The various entities within the Contra Costa Water District were to be based in two separate operations and maintenance facilities in Concord and Antioch, some 40 miles apart. The W.E. Lyons design-build team needed to meet all of the individual user group criteria while remaining within the budget and time constraints of the Water District..

Solution

Using the design-build project delivery approach allowed the W.E. Lyons team to design and construct the entire project in less than 12 months. The team encouraged open communication and a focus on user group meetings to achieve desired goals. The Contra Costa Water District received maximum construction quality, lower costs and, in the long run, reduced maintenance costs..
