Challenge

Dreyer's Santa Rosa, Inc., an independent ice cream distributor, was enjoying rapid growth. However, their three antiquated freezers, which provided only 1,500 square feet of storage, could no longer support their needs. The company was faced with building a new facility.

Solution

After providing site selection services and value engineering, W.E. Lyons Construction and W.B. Clausen Engineers determined that purchasing and modifying an existing concrete tilt-up structure would be the most economical solution. The resulting 20,000 square foot distribution facility was modified at a fraction of the cost of a new building shell and improvements.

Highlights

4,500 square foot freezer featuring Enviro hydraulic rapid-open
doors and Metl-Span thermal panels

25 tons of refrigeration
Refrigeration system designed with auxiliary capacity
Fully automated material handling system
Interior truck parking and charging station
