  Challenge

Durham Meat Company needed a new production area, enhanced product flow and material handling procedures—all without impacting operations.

Solution

Durham retained Clausen Engineers for complete design and construction management services. Because of its USDA construction experience and ability to meet the owner's scheduling requirements, W.E. Lyons Construction was selected to implement the design. W.E. Lyons Construction built temporary USDA compliant processing rooms, coolers and freezers in order to keep Durham Meat Company operational during the phased plant renovation. All work was completed on time and within budget.

Highlights

  • 36,000 square foot phased plant renovation
  • 6,000 square foot processing room
  • Low maintenance polyethylene ceiling panels
  • Chase Duras impact-resistant doors
  • New USDA approved concrete flooring
  • Thermal Span insulated panels
  • Galvanized meat rail system
